First Week of the Clinic: 6/14-6/21

This week was an exciting one. I began work for the Digital Summer Clinic, an internship program that assigns interns to tech startup companies based upon both their desired and past experiences. After meeting with the program mentors and representatives of Ann Arbor SPARK (the organization that cohosts this program with the Center for Digital Engagement), I began to feel confident in my role in this program. We discussed our weekly responsibilities, including progress reports, blog posts/LinkedIn updates, and company meetings, in addition to longer term goals such as acquiring a Google certificate. For the Google certificate, I have chosen to start with pursuing the Google Analytics certificate, first starting with the "fail faster" method of taking the test while expecting to fail in order to gain insight on what to expect. After doing so, I have begun my Google Analytics studies with the provided video resources.

For the tech startup, I was assigned to RXA, an applied artificial intelligence (AI) company. They spend time with clients/companies to better understand their business needs, utilizing data science and AI to find ways to solve their clients' issues and give companies the opportunity to make smarter decisions. I was also able to meet my partner for the summer, and discuss our main assignment for the season: develop a marketing plan across varied channels to promote A2AI, a tech conference focusing on how machine learning and applied artificial intelligence enable businesses to make more informed and actionable decisions with their data. My partner and I's work for this week with RXA includes developing a basic template for the marketing plan, identifying channels and resources to use to ensure a successful A2AI conference. Some thoughts I had to start with would be updating the A2.AI website, reaching out to related/interested educational institutions/groups, social media campaigns (including interacting with groups of related interests), and perhaps even connecting with local media sources to garner interest from the public. 

I'm looking forward to this year's clinic and the work and experiences it will provide. I believe the KPIs for this assignment will be easy to locate and measure, and having very visual results will make this process incredibly motivating.
